What areas of interest are covered under the e-Drive program?
The program is structured to encourage competition among suppliers and between technologies, without dictating a winning technology. Areas of interest include: new Electric-LLVs (Long Life Vehicles), new derivative E-LLVs (powertrains that can take different tops); PHEVs; conversions; charging stations; battery repurposing and recycling; and smart grid deployment.
What types of companies could compete for funds in the e-Drive program?
A wide range of companies, large and small, could compete for the funds, including companies that manufacture batteries, hybrids, and EVs, conversion companies, charging infrastructure, ISOs, power companies, and aggregators. There are also opportunities for standards organizations, battery recycling firms, and a range consulting and engineering evaluation firms.
What can I do to support the e-Drive bill?
Go to the "Join the Network of Supporters" tab under "How to Support" and register your name and company. We will email you directly. In the meantime, spread the word to your colleagues in the industry and to the media.
Are there matching requirements for the e-Drive program?
Yes, but they vary depending upon the area of interest. The largest Federal cost share is for Areas of Interest 2 and 3 in Phase 1.
